New Quad Chairlift for Snowmass Ski Resort

August 28th, 2008

The multi-billion dollar revamp of Snowmass ski resort continues for 2008–2009. Most of the money is going on a new base village, but there are on-mountain improvements too. A new, detachable high-speed quad, the Sheer Bliss chair, accesses 700 acres of some of the best terrain in the Big Burn area with challenging black-diamond glades and wide-open intermediate cruisers. The new lift carries up to 2,000 people per hour and transports riders 2,212 vertical feet, 155 feet more than the old Sheer Bliss chair, in a ride-time of just over nine minutes.

New dining options opening across the resort and its ski area include Sam’s Smokehouse, with spectacular views of Garret’s Peak, Mount Daly and the surrounding backcountry, the new Sam’s restaurant features a barbecue-style smokehouse menu. This sprawling new eatery boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, table service for 175, and outdoor seating – all situated at the top of the Village Express six-person chairlift on Snowmass. In addition to the main restaurant, Sam’s will also have a lounge area where guests can enjoy a quick coffee, breakfast or lunch.

In the base village Sneaky’s Tavern, located next to the Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Centre will be operated by Aspen’s Little Nell food and beverage team. Featuring contemporary interior design and indoor/outdoor seating in what the resort describes as a, “rustic but modern tavern-style” restaurant,

Sweet Life, lLocated in the red barn building at the center of the Base Village plaza is also new. It will include a 1950s-style diner upstairs and an ice cream parlor and candy store downstairs serving more than 250 flavors of homemade ice cream churned on-site with fresh ingredients and no preservatives.

Junk, a fast food restaurant concept, will serve. “Good Junk, bad Junk, (the only Junk your mom will let you eat)” may be the eatery’s tag line, yet natural and organic ingredients are used to create this unique menu of food guests are sure to crave.

Liquid Sky, an indoor-outdoor lounge, morphs with Junk creating one entertainment facility. All-day dining, lounging, après-ski and special events take center stage slopeside at the base of Snowmass’ Fanny Hill.
